How the Bible Fits Together: The Big Picture of the Bible

Teachers: Miles Van Pelt, Brian Gault, Trey Watkins, Otis Pickett, CL Pearce, Elbert McGowan
Classroom: Fellowship Hall

The Bible is a lake in which a toddler can wade and an elephant can swim. It contains 66 books written by 40 different authors in 3 languages over 1500 years. And yet it is all telling one story—the story of Jesus coming to rescue his bride and taking her home to live happily ever after.

In this class, we will explore the canon and covenants, promises and laws. We’ll think about hermeneutics (how to read your Bible) and the intertestamental period. We’ll examine OT law, history, and prophecy and NT gospels, epistles, and Revelation. By the end of our time, you’ll have a sense of how each part of the Bible functions and how it all points us to Jesus.

Our hope is that this opens the Bible in a new way for saints who have been reading it closely for 40 years, and at the same time provides a primer for those who may be reading it for the first time.
