Shaun Furniss | Intern
Shaun is originally from Grandville, Michigan, just outside Grand Rapids and not far from the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. After two years of studying at Grand Valley State University where he double-majored in Business and Psychology, Shaun transferred to Kuyper College where he double-majored in Pre-seminary and Biblical Studies, triple-minored in Greek, Communication, and Education.
During his college years, he worked as a Youth Director at Ottawa Reformed Church of West Olive and Fair Haven Ministries in Hudsonville, Michigan. Shaun also served as a chaplain at Spectrum Health Hospital and as a nurse technician at the same facility. Upon graduating in 2005, he moved to Jackson in order to continue his education at Reformed Theological Seminary. In 2007, Shaun graduated with a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling.
He is now continuing his studies at RTS in the Master of Divinity program, with an anticipated completion date of May 2009. Shaun’s goal, upon graduating, is to work in pastoral care within a church setting, focusing on counseling and discipleship. As an intern at Redeemer, Shaun is the pastoral care intern with much of his focus being placed on the mercy ministries and outreach of Redeemer.
Adam Viramontes | Intern
Adam is originally from Yorba Linda, California, though he spent the majority of his adolescent years in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He became a Christian after his first year in college at New Mexico Highlands University. Soon after his conversion he married his wonderful bride (Heather), was called to the ministry and completed a B.A. in Christian Studies at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.
Upon graduation in 2005, he was given the opportunity to minister to the broken community of New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. After one year of missionary relief effort, Adam and Heather moved north 3 hours to Jackson, MS to attend RTS.
Over their 3 year seminary career at RTS, the Viramontes’ have grown not only in their love for the Lord and his church, but were also recently blessed with their first son, Jadon Paul.
Adam anticipates completing his Masters of Divinity in May 2010. Upon graduating, he desires to serve in the local church and pursue church planting opportunities with the PCA. As an intern at Redeemer, Adam is a pastoral intern with much of his time committed to teaching and preaching and serving the life of Redeemer in any capacity needed.
