In 2013, Haruaki and his family traveled from Japan to study theology at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in Jackson. Before coming to the U.S., Haruaki worked in relief work ministry organized by his pastor in Japan right after the tsunami and earthquakes in 2011. At the same time, he helped friends’ gospel music ministry by playing guitar for more than ten years.

Currently, he is a music intern for Redeemer Church while studying at RTS. He leads Bible Study every Tuesday evening before choir rehearsal and also plays guitar for Sunday worship services and for special events. Haruaki loves living in Jackson, learning theology from RTS professors, serving as a musician and intern for Redeemer, and above all the culture and people in Jackson. He thanks God for leading him here and allowing him to pursue life as a minister.

Haruaki recently finished his third year of the MDiv program at RTS and has one more year to complete it. He and his wife, Asami, have a daughter Hatsuho and two sons Niji and Torah.
