2021 Family Missions Project
Even though this year’s conference has morphed somewhat into a beautiful “Month for Missions”, we want some traditions to remain the same. Normally, during our annual Missions Conference, we have a mission project for our people – adults and children alike. In the past we have participated in such activities as cleaning the streets in our parish, assembling hygiene kits and flood buckets for MNA Disaster Response as well as assisting in flood relief and house renovations.
This year’s project is a very important, fun and yet simple “Family Mission Project.”
How does it work?
Families in our church will volunteer to work as a family team to shop for the contents of a bedding kit (the list of the contents of a kit is listed below) and then assemble the kit(s) together as a team. After they complete assembling the kit and vacuum sealing the bag(s), each family can bring the completed kit(s) to the church.
(Families are not limited to just one kit, but we are hoping that many will assemble and supply MNA Disaster Response with at least one kit.)
What goes into a kit?
Each Kit should contain only the following items (Estimated cost per kit is $50):
- 2 flat full/double-size sheets, no fitted sheets accepted.
- 2 pillows
- 2 pillowcases
- 1 large Stor-It or large Space-Age Vacuum Pack Bag
(Available at Dollar stores, Amazon, or Walmart)
Important and time saving information:
- All items must be new
- Do not wash any of the items; (if washed they will be considered second-hand and unusable.)
- Sheets and pillowcases may be of different colors.
- Linens can be removed from original packaging.
You will need a vacuum with a hose attachment or a hand-help vacuum pump. Stack all Bedding items in the large bedding size vacuum pack and close the bag. Insert the vacuum hose in the slot on the side of the bag and vacuum the air out of the bag. When all of the air has been removed from the bag, close and seal the hole per the instructions that accompany the vacuum storage bag.
Drop them off by March 31:
Drop them at church on Sunday morning when you come for worship. The drop point for Sunday mornings will be through the double doors at the entrance to hallway in front of the fellowship hall.
Bring them to the church office on Mondays from 9 am – 2 pm, or Tuesdays from 2-5 pm, during the month of March. Someone will be there to assist you with loading and unloading as needed.
