Steve and Sherry Lanier, Deeper Still Missions

Since Steve’s retirement in December, he and Sherry have had many prayers answered regarding their next steps. For many years, they have had a concern for church planters and missionaries, both domestic and global. Steve shared a statistic that 1,500 church planters, pastors, and missionaries leave ministry each month. Key reasons for this are a lack of support and conflict in their teams and families. The Laniers have been looking for opportunities to come alongside people in ministry and serve them as volunteer team members and member care providers.

They have partnered with Deeper Still Missions located in Memphis, TN as member care providers. The offer got even better: the leaders suggested that Steve and Sherry begin with missionaries they already have relationships with through Redeemer Church.

Since beginning this, the Lanier’s have been able to visit Thailand, where they are working with a team. They check in with team members, provide counseling, mediate conflict, and help in vision casting and planning. They also have been able to partner with a church plant in Ocean Springs, MS and Wright and Elizabeth Busching’s church plant in Temple Terrace, FL.

Pray for the Lanier’s as they work with these pastors, missionaries, and church planters. Ask that God would give them wisdom and allow them to be used as encouragements. Pray also for opportunities to provide member care beyond Thailand. Those efforts will require wisdom, more travel, and financial resources.
