Scriptures

  • Luke 22:47–71

  • “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

Discussion Questions

WHAT (what did we learn from God’s Word?)

  • What happens to Jesus in this chapter? (Betrayed by Judas, Denied by Peter, Mocked and Beaten, Goes through a Trial, and is Condemned)
  • Does He defend Himself? (No)
  • What does it mean to condemn someone/something? (To declare that it is wrong/sinful/guilty and to sentence it to a consequence)
  • Does condemn the people who mistreat Him in this chapter? (No – their own words and their own sin condemns them)

SO WHAT? (Why does it matter?)

  • Why is it amazing that Jesus says “You say that I AM” to the priests and scribes? (That was God’s Special, Covenant Name: Yahweh means “I am”)
  • What does this mean about Jesus? (He is God Himself!)

NOW WHAT? (What difference does it make in my life?)

  • When have you felt condemned by your sin? Tell your family about a time when it was hard to believe that you could be forgiven.
  • How does it make you feel to know that “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)? Are you “in Christ Jesus”? (Forgiven, and adopted into His Family)

PRAYER TIME (“TAG Time”)

  • TELL: Tell God how you feel, tell Him the things you are thankful for, tell Him how much you need Him (confess your sins)
  • ASK: Ask God for what you need, ask Him to help you and others
  • GIVE: Give God glory, honor, and praise!
