SUMMARY:Finders/Keepers: Finding the Marriage you want; Enriching the Marriage you have Oct 6&7
DESCRIPTION:Join us October 6 & 7 for our marriage conference\, Finders/Keepers. Presented for both married and singles\, clinical psychologist\, Dr. John L. Cox will lead us in exploring principles for both how singles can be growing in preparation for marriage and how married couples can be growing closer together. Our focus will go beyond “communication skills” and “getaway weekends” to more deeply address the character qualities and abilities that God created us to need in order to find and build healthy romantic relationships. \nSession One: Growing Together not Growing Apart: How Your Growth as a Person can Enrich your Marriage.\nMany marriages end up with couples blaming each other for their struggles. “If only you…!!!” The truth is that all of us come to marriage with an incomplete toolbox for making a romantic relationship work. This session will overview the basic heart skills that we need (whether married or searching) to love and be loved well. \nSession Two: Intimacy and Strength: How to Make Closeness Work\nMarriage was created for closeness\, but some people fear it; some people need it too much. Emotional Intimacy can become the epicenter of tons of marital conflict. This session will address making sense of sharing our heart\, and receiving our spouse’s heart? How can we learn better what intimacy is? What do we do if our spouse struggles with being emotionally close? \nSession Three: Conflict and Fighting: Learning to Both Matter\nAny relationship that has two thinking people in it\, will have conflict. It’s how we make sense of not being the same person!! This session will address preventing conflict from turning in to a fight. How do we resolve a fight once it starts? And how do we resolve conflict in such a way that lets both people matter? \nWhen: Friday\, October 6\, 6:00-9:00pm & Saturday\, October 7\, 9:00am-12:00pm.\nWhere: Redeemer Church Sanctuary\nAdditional Information: Friday\, October 6: A light meal from Chick-fil-A will be provided for families at 5:15pm in the Fellowship Hall. Please sign up for the number of meals you will need. If you are using Nursery or Children’s Ministry\, please bring a snack for your child(ren).\nSaturday\, October 7: Coffee in the morning will be offered in the Gathering Area\, beginning at 8:30am. Snacks and water will be offered at the break.
