SUMMARY:Adopt-a-Family Christmas Project
DESCRIPTION:Help us adopt 20 families from our community whose children attend Chastain Middle School and whose parents need help providing Christmas for their families. \nHow do I adopt a family? \n\nOne way to participate is to purchase gift cards to Walmart\, Target and or Kroger and bring them by the church office. We are hoping to provide $150 worth of gifts cards for each of the 20 families. With these gift cards the parent(s) can provide their own families what they wish for their children for Christmas. We are simply teaming up with the parents to assist them with providing Christmas for their families and not taking their place.\nAnother way to participate in this project is to provide the funds so that the Missions Committee can purchase gift cards to give to the 20 families. You can write a check to the church and with that check\, please send a note designating your donation for the “Adopt-A-Family Christmas Project.”\nAnother way to participate is to help the Mission to Jackson Committee to sort and to distribute the cards to the families as they come by the church to pick up their gift cards next Wednesday evening\, December 16\, at 5:00 pm\, in the front parking lot of Redeemer.\nAll of us can participate by praying that each family will see and hear the love of God in Christ through this opportunity.\n\nRegister to help by e-mailing Steve Lanier at slanier@redeemerjackson.com

SUMMARY:Upside Down
DESCRIPTION:Upside Down began with this conviction: God’s word – by the work of the Holy Spirit and in the context of Christian Community – changes kids from the inside out and turns their worlds upside down. \nOur trained/screened mentors lead kids through memory making activities (Bible/Catechism memory\, eating\, playing\, and singing) to disciple them towards repentance and faith in Jesus\, build relationships with them\, and encourage them to pursue spiritual\, social\, and emotional growth. \nAbout 50% of our Upside Down children are visitors from the community. What a phenomenal opportunity for our church to be a blessing to our community through evangelism and discipleship! \nWhen: Wednesdays from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm\, beginning February 17 – May 5\nWho: K4 – 5th grade\nWhere: Redeemer Church Sanctuary. Drop-off/pick-up at the Sanctuary entrance/front parking lot (follow signs and traffic attendants in the front parking lot for car-pool line. Attendants will radio for your child and bring them straight to your car)\nAdditional Information: COVID-19 regulations are in place. Masks are required for all meeting attendees. Food will be provided. \nQuestions: Contact Zack Owens at zowens@redeemerjackson.com

The church began holding public worship services in May of 2019. \nHe previously served as the Associate Pastor of Grace and Peace Fellowship (PCA) in St. Louis\, MO from 2013 to 2018. Prior to moving to St. Louis in July of 2013\, he was the Pastor of New Song Community Church (PCA)\, in the Sandtown community of inner-city Baltimore\, MD\, beginning in February of 2000. Prior to that\, he served as the Minister of Outreach and Youth at Faith Christian Fellowship Church (PCA)\, also in the city of Baltimore\, for 5 years while completing his Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) at Chesapeake Theological Seminary. \nThurman completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis in 2011\, with his dissertation entitled\, “Christ-Centered Preaching in Hip Hop Culture.” Before serving at Faith\, he was on staff for 4 years with the ministry of Young Life. \nThurman has been married to his lovely wife\, Evie\, for 21 years and they have been blessed with four beautiful children\, Charvez\, Shaquana\, Joshua\, and Caleb. Thurman currently serves as the Chairman of the PCA’s Mission to North America. He also serves now on the Missouri Presbytery’s Credentials Committee and on the Reconciliation and Kingdom Justice Committee and as an adjunct professor in homiletics and city ministry at Covenant Seminary. \nThurman developed a strong passion for neighborhood parish-model type ministry in his 13 years serving in Sandtown as the pastor of not only New Song\, but a whole community. He looks forward to serving in a similar way in the West End community where their family already lives and where New City has been doing grass-roots Christian community development ministry for over 25 years. They want to see a thriving\, Christ-centered\, evangelistic\, discipling\, neighborhood-loving church that is a place where the previously un-churched or de-churched feel at home.

SUMMARY:Family Mission Project
DESCRIPTION:Even though this year’s conference has morphed somewhat into a beautiful “Month for Missions”\, we want some traditions to remain the same. Normally\, during our annual Missions Conference\, we have a mission project for our people – adults and children alike. In the past we have participated in such activities as cleaning the streets in our parish\, assembling hygiene kits and flood buckets for MNA Disaster Response as well as assisting in flood relief and house renovations. This year’s project is a very important\, fun and yet simple “Family Mission Project.” \nHow does it work? Families in our church will volunteer to work as a family team to shop for the contents of a bedding kit (the contents of a kit is listed below) and then assemble the kit(s) together as a team.  After they complete assembling the kit and vacuum sealing the bag(s)\, each family can bring the completed kit(s) to the church when they come to worship services at either service\, or they can bring them to the church office on Mondays from 9 am to 2 pm\, during the month of March. The drop point for Sunday mornings will be through the double doors at the entrance to the hallway in front of the fellowship hall\, and the weekday deliveries will be made to the church office. Someone will be there to assist you with loading and unloading as needed.  (Families are not limited to just one kit\, but we are hoping that many will assemble and supply MNA Disaster Response with at least one kit.) \nWhat goes into a kit? (Estimated cost per kit is $50)\nEach Kit should contain only the following items: \n\n2 flat full/double-size sheets\, no fitted sheets accepted.\n2 pillows\n2 pillowcases\n1 large Stor-It or large Space-Age Vacuum Pack Bag (Available at dollar stores\, Walmart\, or Amazon.\nImportant and time saving information:\n\nAll items must be new\nDo not wash any of the items; (if washed they will be considered second-hand and unusable.)\nSheets and pillowcases may be of different colors.\nLinens can be removed from original packaging.\n\n\n\nPacking kits\nYou will need a vacuum with a hose attachment or a hand-help vacuum pump. Stack all Bedding items in the large bedding size vacuum pack and close the bag. Insert the vacuum hose in the slot on the side of the bag and vacuum the air out of the bag.  When all of the air has been removed from the bag\, close and seal the hole per the instructions that accompany the vacuum storage bag.

SUMMARY:Family Missions Projects Completed
DESCRIPTION:2021 Family Missions Project\nHere’s the 2021 Missions Month Schedule. \nEven though this year’s conference has morphed somewhat into a beautiful “Month for Missions”\, we want some traditions to remain the same. \nThis year’s project is a very important\, fun and yet simple “Family Mission Project.” \nHow does it work?\nFamilies in our church will volunteer to work as a family team to shop for the contents of a bedding kit (the list of the contents of a kit is listed below) and then assemble the kit(s) together as a team.  After they complete assembling the kit and vacuum sealing the bag(s)\, each family can bring the completed kit(s) to the church. \n(Families are not limited to just one kit\, but we are hoping that many will assemble and supply MNA Disaster Response with at least one kit.) \nWhat goes into a kit?\nEach Kit should contain only the following items (Estimated cost per kit is $50): \n\n2 flat full/double-size sheets\, no fitted sheets accepted.\n2 pillows\n2 pillowcases\n1 large Stor-It or large Space-Age Vacuum Pack Bag\n(Available at Dollar stores\, Amazon\, or Walmart)\n\nImportant and time saving information:\n\nAll items must be new\nDo not wash any of the items; (if washed they will be considered second-hand and unusable.)\nSheets and pillowcases may be of different colors.\nLinens can be removed from original packaging.\n\nPacking kits:\nYou will need a vacuum with a hose attachment or a hand-help vacuum pump. \nDrop them off by March 31:\nDrop them at church on Sunday morning when you come for worship. The drop point for Sunday mornings will be through the double doors at the entrance to hallway in front of the fellowship hall. \nOR \nBring them to the church office on Mondays from 9 am – 2 pm\, or Tuesdays from 2-5 pm\, during the month of March. Someone will be there to assist you with loading and unloading as needed. \nQuestions:\nCall or text Steve Lanier at 601.259.5454 or email him at slanier@redeemerjackson.com.
