SUMMARY:A First Glimpse at a Phased-in Return to In-Person Corporate Worship
DESCRIPTION:Moving towards a Return to In-Person Corporate Worship\nThe Session and Staff are creating a dynamic and flexible plan to return to in-person corporate worship. Here’s some key information: \n\nLivestreaming Available. We will be moving from recording our services on Saturdays to livestreaming the 8am service. A recording will be available immediately following the 8am service. Target Date: June 14. Livestreaming is an important platform to serve those who won’t return in-person in the near future in Christian freedom.\nOfficers & Families Test Socially-Distanced In-Person Worship. Working in conjunction with the city of Jackson\, and taking appropriate social-distancing precautions\, officers\, staff\, and their families may attend in-person corporate worship in order to work through any unforeseen blind spots or issues. Target Date: Sat\, June 6. We can test two services (8am & 11am)\, with the nuances of cleaning and disinfecting between services the following week\, on Sun\, June 14.\nA Return to Limited In-Person Corporate Worship. With appropriate social-distancing precautions and registration to help us plan each service\, we will will return to in-person worship. We will return with two services\, 8am & 11am\, both of which will be livestreamed\, and a recording will be posted immediately following the service. Target Date: June 21.\nThank You for Your Patience & Prayers. Please pray for wisdom as we navigate these unprecedented times. Our tentative timetable may change as various unknowns are discovered. Here’s the most recent information: \nPhase 3: Returning to In-Person Corporate Worship\nTesting went well on June 6. If testing all of our protocols goes well on June 14\, we will return to limited in-person corporate worship on Sunday\, June 21\, with services at 8:00am and 11:00am. Here are more details. \nLivestreaming Available\nOn June 14\, we will begin a new process. We will livestream the 8:00am service\, and then it will be available to watch at your convenience thereafter. \nLook for the livestream on our home page. \nLivestreaming is an important platform to serve those who won’t return in-person in the near future due to Christian freedom. \nA Limited Return\nWhat will our return look like? Here’s a quick glimpse: \n\nSocially Distanced Seating using different rows for the 8:00am and 11:00am services.\nAdvanced Online Registration to maximize occupancy and safety.\nMasks Strongly Encouraged with two sections: Masks Required Upstairs and Masks Optional Downstairs.\nA Touchless Service where nothing will be passed.\nNo Nursery at this time.\nNo Children’s Church at this time.\nNo Sunday School at this time.\n\nSee more details listed below. DESCRIPTION:Sin impacts all men. Understanding our particular bent will lead us more deeply into the Gospel. In what ways are you like Iron Man? In what ways are you like the Hulk? \nTopic\nComic Heroes\, Alter Egos\, and the Gospel\nAll men are affected and damaged by sin. As a result\, we as men have sought to become our own heroes. We attempt in our own power to save ourselves and engage our world\, thus becoming unbalanced caricatures of who God would have us to be. Like popular comic book heroes\, some of our perceived strengths are actually weaknesses that have grown out of control and have become alter egos. \nGod has sent help for men. He sent Jesus to relieve us of the burden of being heroes who have to bear and fight our extreme fears and pains. In Christ\, God offers us the freedom to be his restored\, restful\, and rescued sons. \nProfiles\nProfile 1: IRON MAN\nThe Iron Man is the successful\, driven and conscientious man. His work and ability to put on the face\, the uniform\, and wear the job description is his saving grace. \nThe Iron Man is outwardly strong and successful but is rotting unknown\, and hurting in his private world. His non-business relationships are on the brink of disaster. He doesn’t trust and hasn’t trusted many people to get close to him. \nProfile 2: HULK\nThe Hulk is the man with undealt with\, and hidden anger\, fears\, and passions. These passions\, fears\, and anger are triggered in pressure and desperate situations. The Hulk—which can be hidden in the dark sinful passions and pain living within each one of us—if found out or given control\, can and will destroy our whole lives. The Hulk will destroy our families\, our children\, our professions\, and everything that we may have worked hard to build and achieve and what God has blessed and called us. \nWe all have “in the closet” sins\, addictions\, and emotional and mental struggles that are bound to break through. The Hulk is living in a world where he is trying to cover-up\, run from\, and hide from what cannot be controlled. The Hulk is an overgrown manifestation of a history of deep hurt and neglect. The Hulk ironically serves to get us through hard times\, loneliness\, emptiness\, and provides much needed release in a troublesome and hard world. The Hulk lives in solitude with his issues. If he has already lost his deepest relationships\, he does everything he can to keep those whom he loves and cares for away from the “otherside” or struggle. Inevitably trouble\, sorrow\, pain\, and triggers will come and the “real” other us will emerge. Previously\, Howard was the pastor of Forest Park Presbyterian in Baltimore\, MD and the Assistant Pastor of Church Planting at Redemption Fellowship Presbyterian in Fayetteville\, GA. \nHoward holds a Master of Divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary and an English degree from Clemson University. DESCRIPTION:What: We will be in teams and will walk through pre-assigned streets and locations in our parish community and praying for our neighbors\, schools and churches as we walk pass. We will not be knocking on doors or entering into anyone’s home. We will return to the church when we complete our assigned area(s).\nWhen: Saturday 12\, 2020\, 9 am – 10 am\nWhere: We will meet in the front parking lot of Redeemer Church to assign groups/families to walk and pray in our parish (Broadmoor/Broadmeadow Communities)\nWho: All are invited to participate. This is a family-friendly event. Many Parent(s) in the past have walked and prayed while pushing strollers. Family units make great prayer teams!\nWhat else do I need to know: Wear comfortable walking shoes\, lightweight clothing and bring a bottle of water for each member of your family.
