Phyllis Hurley| Director of Children’s Ministries
As the part-time Director of Children’s Ministries, Mrs. Phyllis Hurley has oversight of all programs for children ages four through twelve, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Wednesday Night Activities.
Originally from Denver, Colorado, Phyllis attended Tufts University in Boston, graduating with a degree in History and a minor in Secondary Education. While living in Boston, she attended the historic Park Street Church, which is where she met her husband, Jim, who was attending Harvard University. During their married life, they have lived in numerous locations including Philadelphia, Chattanooga, Miami, Tallahassee, England, and Switzerland.
Since 1985, the Hurleys have made their home Clinton, where for eighteen years Phyllis was the administrator of Mt. Salus Christian School, and also earned a Master of Education degree in School Administration and Supervision from Mississippi College. Jim is a professor of Marriage and Family Therapy at Reformed Theological Seminary.
The Hurleys have three grown sons: Jim, a lawyer in New Orleans and a member of Redeemer PCA of New Orleans; Andrew and his wife Leigh are family therapists with Saint Mark’s Counseling Center, parents of one daughter, and members of Redeemer Church; and Tim, who is studying at Stanford Law School, is also a member of Redeemer Church.
